Signing Up

I have this app on my iphone and I didnt need to sign up in order to use it, so when i try to use this version for the Mac it says I need an account and when i try to make one it tells me my password is incorrect… I never had an account and I cant sign up for one because my password is incorrect from an I account I never even had. Needs a re-think!

This review started off with 5 stars, as Sunrise has replaced my calendar on iphone and ipad both. This ‘Mac’ implementation is the web app wrapped in a launcher shell. The worst part is, the web app loads your events much faster than this does. Build it right, like you did for iOS. BUILD IT NATIVE.

New update is pretty terrible

Used to love sunrise, but the newest update has the app freezing on EVERY action for anywhere from 5-30 seconds

Almost There

This app has been steadily improving and currently it’s the only calendar app I use across all my devices (5s, iPad mini, iMac). It is consistent, up to date and bug free from my experience in the last month (mid-July to mid-August 2015). It does lack some functionality that is annoying. Not dealbreakers, just annoying. Here are two easy improvements that could put Sunrise over the top: 1) Allow to copy and paste events. Simple in iCal, impossible here. 2) Allow custom alerts. Without the custom alerts option, it is impossible to automate an email to send later. This is a great, if little known, OSX tool that is completely lost by using Sunrise’s limited alerts menu.

Syncing issues

Pretty good, but there’s a syncing issue where it doesn’t sync and it doesn’t let the user know there’s a problem. If you make any changes to Sunrise during that time, the changes don’t get saved.

Logs Me Out Constantly

I’m constantly having to re-add my Gmail account because when I re-launch the app it shows up as blank. At this point i’m done using this app.

Disappointed

I love to use this app on my iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, but the new update makes it horrible on the Mac! Taking away icould calendar support is not helpful and i’ve taken my calendar off on my iphone and put it back and still not showing up on my mac. Come on Sunrise, your better than this, I hope that since joining microsoft you don’t go the opposite way with one of the best calendar apps for mobile!!!

Update deleted all accounts

Latest update deleted all my accounts.

Great app, but can be better.

Suggestions for developer: 1) Notifications SHOULD NOT disappear until they’re released by user. It’s SO EASY to miss notifications delivered by Sunrise. This is bad. 2) The name of the event field should parse dates and times. It’s 2015. I want to write 9pm Event Name and have it parse the time correctly. As it stands you have to just write the event name and then go in and manually configure the time. SLOW. 3) Where’s the “Meet” feature? How did the best feature of sunrise get left out? 4) Clicking a date shouldn’t default to creating a new event (should be a double click). Please make these adjustments and will rate 5 stars.

Bugs after last update

I love Sunrise Calendar and I don’t currently think I will switch soon…but I am having some major bugs lately that is really messing me up. I depend on Sunrise for a lot of things, including getting to class on time and which room to go to. However, Sunrise from my desktop has not been syncing with my phone—or takes days to do so. The one big bug right now is that I will delete events, especially recurring events, and then they magically reappear! This is sooo annoying. Also I will try to update one event of a recurring event and it will make multiple events on that day instead, and when I try to erase the second, it just shows up again :( Once again I really love Sunrise’s interface and it helps me stay organized but if you are reading these reviews in order to pick a calendar app, pick a different one for right now. Sunrise, please update and fix all the bugs!!

Last update ruined it

The app looks better but now I can’t use it with my iCloud account anymore! Who would make an app on the Mac that shows the calendar of everything BUT the Mac calendar??? Useless.

Works great on El Capitan Betas

This calendar has greatly helped me become organized for school and work. I use it with google calendar on the El Capitan Beta and have yet to experience any bugs or limits with this app. For the everyday user like me, there really is no reason to buy a $40 calendar app because this free one works perfectly.

Disappointed

So I had used the Sunrise calendar for iOS and was favorably impressed, although there are several key features missing. I naturally went to Sunrise for my Mac so I could keep desktop and iOS devices all in sync. Initially, the app asks you to create an account, which is weird as the iOS version does not require that. In the iOS version, you simply give it the accounts you want to connect to the calendar and it goes. I’m having a difficult time understanding why the Mac version would require some sort of separate “sunrise” account. The only conclusion is that they want to mine my data for one reason or another as calendar aps clearly don’t need that to connect to calendar accounts that are kept elsewhere like exchange, icloud or what have you. For me, that is a show stopper as the last thing I need is another account with data floating around somewhere in the cloud. I’ll stick with calendar apps that do not require some separate account.

Bugs

Great app but there a lot of bugs… One of the most annoying ones for me is when changing the time of the event the dropdown menu glitches and freezes.

Almost Perfect, Bit Buggy

I made the switch to Sunrise (from iCal) because you can’t expand the hidden events for a particular day in the “month view” on iCal - which is unbelievable. PROS: 1. It’s beautiful. Whle that’s not very important, it is nice for something I spend much of my time looking at. 2. I haven’t had a problme syncing other calendars. 3. You can expand to see full days while remaining in month view. 4. I haven’t had any issues syncing between OS and iOS. CONS: 1. I’ve noticed a small bug. Rarely, a reoccuring event I would like to delete is stubborn and won’t delete unless I delete “all events.” 2. It isn’t fully integrated into i/os - for obvious reasons as it isn’t an Apple product.

Works great on other devices, not on Mac

I use Sunrise a lot for work, and have it synced with many of my coworkers’ calendars. The app always crashed on my other devices (iPhone/iPad) until I downloaded the beta version. On my mac, it constantly freezes and refuses to work. I don’t want to give up on this app because I love the aesthetic and interface, but it needs some serious de-bugging…

Great calendar!

It’s much more handy than a native calculator.

Soooo slow

I love this app, I keep coming back to it because it just works so well for me in it’s design, but working with Google calendars on it is beyond painful. Spinning wheels, long pauses, lags, you name it. It drags very badly. It may be out of their hands, I don’t know, but it’s really annoying. Still, the layout of the app is so good, I’m staying with it. For now.

This version has deal breaker bugs

Enjoy the app, but it needs to GTHO of my way. Bugs in the pop-up when creating a new event, are unforgiveable. To the dev responsible: your drop-down game is weak, do better.

Calendar

Hey, I’m a new user, but the app is very useful! It’s now in my must have list.
